MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 in long-haul transport

MAN TGX EfficientLine 3: The fuel-saving wonder

The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 is more powerful and economical than any previous model. Following further development of its powertrain, additional fuel savings of two litres were achieved. These have been made possible by the high-torque MAN D26 engine, lightweight and aerodynamic solutions, as well as helpful driver assistance systems such as MAN EfficientCruise® and MAN EfficientRoll.

The TGX EfficientLine 3 is the perfect vehicle when it comes to meeting the major challenges posed by increased competitive pressure and tighter environmental regulations. All new electronic systems for fuel reduction are fitted in the TGX EfficientLine 3 as standard.

In long-haul transport, lowering fuel consumption is the most important factor in minimising the total cost of ownership (TCO). The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 demonstrates how savings potential can be exploited by means of technical measures. Its fuel-saving motorisation and innovative gearbox technology lower costs considerably. The efficiency-optimised semitrailer tractor combines numerous measures and auxiliary equipment to lead the way in long-haul transport with a thoroughly efficient output.

Fuel currently accounts for around 30 percent (i.e. the greatest proportion) of the total cost of ownership. Good news then that the MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 now consumes up to 6.35% less diesel than previous models thanks to its uncompromising efficiency functions.

The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 is also efficient when it comes to its environmental performance. With its considerably lower fuel consumption, it generates fewer CO2 emissions, without the need for complex technical measures.

Bundles of efficiency: The new EfficientLine 3 packages*

The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 fuel-saving champion is setting new benchmarks in international haulage with its flexible and individually adjustable software package. It combines the most important fuel-saving components in one vehicle, ensuring that friction losses, ancillary power requirements, aerodynamic drag and empty weight are reduced considerably.

The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 holds the consumption record for fuel efficiency

The Spanish trade magazine transporte mundial carried out the field test. Current vehicle models from three manufacturers demonstrated their fuel efficiency on the same test route in three vehicle tests: the MAN TGX EfficientLine 3, the Volvo FH-500 and the Scania S500. The vehicle test results, published in the 12/16, 01/17 and 02/17, issues of transporte mundial showed that the MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 is way ahead when it comes to fuel efficiency.

  • Test result

The test result: MAN EfficientLine 3 is an unrivalled master of fuel efficiency

The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 gave an impressive performance on the test course used by transporte mundial with the lowest average consumption of any vehicle tested to date.

The Spanish trade magazine also sent the Volvo FH-500 and, last but not least, the newly launched Scania S500 out onto the test route. The result of the three drives, which were under largely similar test conditions, showed that the MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 easily surpassed both competitors when it came to fuel efficiency (diesel and AdBlue fluid consumption).

The test course of transporte mundialis 912 kilometres long in total. The route ranges across elevations at sea level and those exceeding 1200 metres above it. The Spanish trade magazine sends every vehicle with a gross train weight of around 40 tonnes, including semitrailers, on a test drive. The MAN TGX EfficientLine 3 broke the test course record for fuel efficiency at 27.9 litres per 100 kilometres. The MAN TGX also achieved by far the lowest value for AdBlue fluid consumption.
